Living in the Northwest, I can't help but be drawn to the Pacific. She's my internal magnet, compass, and more than anything, companion. But while I spend probably far too much time studying her countless blues and intricate frothy designs as they splay across the shoreline, what has always moved me most, perhaps because they themselves are so full of motion, are the waves. They delight me, they terrify me, they demand to be seen, they demand to be felt. Her dynamism reminds me of my own. And in these moments of remembering, I paint.
